Now on the social media series I’m referencing in the post, you can see it on my feed the ten lessons I had to learn the hard way 🤓

Across the entire series I spoke about:
•being estranged from my mum
• working at British Vogue AND McDonald’s
• being almost entirely sober
the first time I went viral
• having PMDD
• clearing panic attacks
• the reason my relationships kept failing (me)
• howw I got over the fear of posting content
• hating the wealthy and changing my opinion
Aaaand my biggest lesson from the past year

And the wonderful @alex.petrakieva was 100000% inspiration for this! I’m also halfway through her One Good Series course at the moment, and it’s excellent 👌

Hook

Do you have to pick a niche to grow a personal brand? Ladies, I have results.

0:00Hook

The speaker poses a direct, relatable question about niche strategy and immediately promises results to hook the audience.

Do you have to pick a niche to grow a personal brand? Ladies, I have results.

0:04Setup

She validates a common frustration and introduces her unique 10-day experiment, establishing her credibility and the stakes of the test.

If you're growing a personal brand and you're also sick of the advice 'pick a niche' and it just makes you feel really small and trapped. I just did something that I think we could all learn from. I recently grew to 70,000 followers in seven months, and then immediately temporarily threw my very obviously working strategy in the bin for 10 days to test something totally off topic and see if I could not be in a niche.

She provides context about her background and the initial successful strategy before diving into the details of the experiment.

A little context before I give you the results. I've been working in social media for almost a decade or something now, so this is definitely not my first rodeo, but I did start the beginning of this year with 203 followers. So this is my first time growing my own personal brand. So let me tell you how I grew the account, what I switched it up to, and what the results of that experiment was.

0:42Transition

She explains her old, successful format and why she abandoned it due to boredom, setting up the change in strategy.

Back in April, I had 4 1/2 thousand followers and I found a format that was working. One of my videos really started picking up speed. 20,000 of my followers actually came from that video directly. And the format was largely talking to camera in my kitchen, same space, usually wearing a green cap in a listical format. I repeated this over and over and over again because it fucking worked and I believe in it as a strategy. However, I got so bored.

1:06Content

She outlines the new, experimental video format, highlighting its differences and personal nature.

And I was about to travel a little bit through Spain for the month, and I tested something different in pretty much every single way. First of all, it was a B-roll with voiceover format, rather than being 2-3 minutes of largely content strategy tips, it was 60 to 90 seconds-ish of lessons that I've learned throughout my life, really personal things, not really mentioning social media at all except once.

1:32Reveal

The speaker dramatically reveals the impressive results of her experiment, using specific metrics to prove her point.

The results are as follows. Completely ignoring TikTok and only looking at Instagram, I had just over 400,000 views across the 10 videos. I had 23,136 content interactions, and a 5.71 engagement rate, so that's fucking high. Just under 1,000 followers directly on the post itself. So probably more that had crossed over to my profile. I had 1,620 shares, over 15,000 likes, and 167 people reposted it. What was very important for me is looking at my audience rate remaining the same. It remained at 92 to 95% women throughout.

2:06Recap

She highlights the specific personal topics that resonated most, reinforcing the success of going beyond a niche.

And I was paying really specific attention to the subjects that did really well. Being estranged from my mum for the past 15 years did really well. And the other thing that did really well was talking about panic attacks and how I used to have them a lot in my 20s.

2:17CTA

She ties the experiment results back to her broader mission and offers a clear call to action for her masterclass.

I think this further pushes my agenda that female founders should just have fun on our social feeds and not just shove ourselves into a niche forever and then feel like we actually hate social media. And if you're interested in growing a personal brand that you don't fucking hate, you can comment 'SYNCED' to get access to my two-day master class which is happening in about 10 days. It's on sale right now for £33. That's only the early bird price though.
