camera did me absolutely filthy but whatever 😭 i also lost a trade too haha

its genuinely insane how confidently people can cosplay as quants while selling trading courses built on cherrypicked results, surface-level stats and “high winrate = good strategy” logic.

winrate by itself means almost nothing. expectancy, payoff distribution, drawdown, sample size, costs, regime dependence, OOS performance and actual execution matter way more.

calling something “quant” does not make it quantitative. if the entire edge falls apart the second you stop cherry picking the pretty parts, you dont have alpha. you have marketing.

Hook

EXPOSING COURSE SELLING LARPS PT.6

0:00Hook

The video starts with an immediate accusation of 'course selling LARPs,' grabbing attention with controversy.

Exposing course selling LARPs part six. Today we have Damaris trades and before anything I'm going to show you this video.

0:06Setup

The video presents clips of the 'Damaris Trades' account making grand claims about market knowledge, setting up the debunking.

I know how markets work. I know where the market is going.

0:11Content

The video quickly flashes complex financial and mathematical formulas, sarcastically implying the course seller doesn't understand them.

No, you don't.

0:20Content

The narrator points out the use of stock photos and a generic 'plug-and-play' system, characteristic of fraudulent schemes.

Stock photos of quantitative finance, complicated math formulas. Absolutely master class of stuff. But he sells a course and has the typical e-commerce / course selling VSL funnel.

0:38Content

The video highlights the claim of 300 profitable 'options traders' in 6 months, explaining why options trading is extremely difficult, implying the claim is unrealistic.

Options are one of the hardest things to actually find an edge in because it is so liquid and it is so efficient because of the fact that there are high-frequency trading firms who have FPGA microwave towers and just an insane amount of infrastructure trading these signals.

1:15Social Proof

The narrator critiques the presented 'success stories' by pointing out irrelevant metrics like 'win rate' and highlighting their own superior, but unadvertised, personal success.

And there's all these success stories. But one thing I do want to say is the win rate. I kind of want to touch up on that a little bit. Uh, 40 to 80% win rate. For somebody who apparently does quantitative finance, win rate is the most insignificant metric possible.

2:03Recap

The video reiterates its skepticism and shows more 'cherry-picked results,' reinforcing the idea that the course seller is not legitimate.

I don't think this person's legit. I could be wrong. Part seven soon.

2:23CTA

A call to action for the next part of the series is presented, encouraging continued engagement.

Part seven soon
