Did anyone else see this adorable moment from @leigh_out_loud? If you haven't, make sure to go watch the full clip. ❤️ We're around our kids constantly: driving them, feeding them, managing logistics, playing referee between sibling arguments. But presence and connection are not the same thing. Connection is when you look at your kid and they feel it. When you're fully there, phone down, enjoying being with them. That's the difference between being in the same room and actually being together. And that connection- that feeling of being truly seen - is what fuels your child's cooperation, emotional resilience, and sense of belonging. Research also shows us, over and over, that children with an involved father develop stronger emotional security, self confidence, and social skills. Having an engaged father matters in the short term and the long term. This clip reminded me that some of the most meaningful parenting moments aren't the big ones. They're the small moments when a child feels, "My parent sees me." If there's a dad, partner, grandparent, or caregiver in your life who would appreciate that reminder today, send this to them.

Psychologist Reacts: Difference Between Being Around Your Kid and With Your Kid
The video opens with an adorable interaction between a dad and his daughter, immediately grabbing attention.
“Lion.”
The dad engages with his daughter's imaginative play, setting the stage for the psychologist's commentary on active engagement.
“Hello daddy. Hello lion. This is my cardigan.”
The psychologist introduces the core concept of the video, distinguishing 'being around' from 'being with' children.
“There is such an important parenting lesson for us in this video, and it's the difference between being around our kids and with our kids.”
She elaborates on the dad's active and present engagement, highlighting eye contact and participation in play.
“He is so with her. He has locked eyes with her. There's no device around. She's interested in the lion voice. He is with her lion voice.”
The psychologist continues to break down specific examples of the dad's engagement, reinforcing her point.
“She's interested in her cardigan. He's with her in that cardigan play. She wants to show him a tattoo and he is with her. Interested, curious, wanting to learn more, wanting to extend things.”
She reflects on her own experiences, making the message relatable and offering a simple solution for connection.
“I know when I'm feeling disconnected from my kids. I often have to plan something big. And ironically, I go to my phone, maybe I think, oh, I'm going to order them that thing they want, or maybe I can plan a special adventure for the weekend. What's around where I live? When honestly, if I just put down my phone and notice something they're interested in and go be with my kid instead of just around my kid.”
The psychologist concludes with a powerful statement about the importance of these present moments.
“I think it's so clear in this video that these are the moments that really matter.”
