You can rewire your brain To be more confident
The video starts with a bold on-screen statement about rewiring the brain for confidence, immediately grabbing attention with a strong promise.
“Psychology shows that you can rewire your brain to be more confident if you vividly imagine an upgraded self-concept.”
The speaker explains the concept of self-concept and its impact, supported by a quote, making the information relatable.
“Now, your self-concept is basically how you view yourself. So if subconsciously you think that you're not a very confident person, or you're not the type of person that can succeed or achieve your goal, or you don't really believe in yourself, then it's going to be very, very difficult to outperform your self image.”
The speaker uses an analogy of a thermostat to simplify the complex idea of self-sabotage when trying to exceed one's self-image.
“Think of it a bit like a thermostat. You have this idea of who you are, and so if you start to, let's say, succeed or win, or something's going well, you're going to self-sabotage to go back to the view that you have of yourself.”
Scientific evidence is brought in (neuroscience) to explain how visualization creates new neural pathways, adding credibility to the advice.
“Neuroscience shows that when you repeatedly visualize a new self-concept, so really focusing on, okay, what's your body language? What's the energy you bring? How do you want to walk, how do you want to talk, how do you perform? You basically create new pathways in your brain that teach your mind and body this is how we think, this is how we feel, and this is how we perform.”
The video concludes with a clear call to action and reiterates the benefits of the practice, reinforcing the initial hook.
“If you can really connect to that version of you who is more confident, and who does hold themselves in that way, it feels familiar for the brain and body. So then you don't self-sabotage yourself, actually this feels more authentic and aligned to who you actually are. So, I would say take three minutes a day to close your eyes and mentally rehearse that confident version of you, and the more you repeat this, you're going to rewire the brain to level up the way you think, feel and perform to be more confident.”
