10/10 ways to find stocks before everyone starts talking about them

1) Read the earnings calls of Big Tech (or whichever companies have dominated headlines for a sustained stretch) and find what’s holding back their growth. Then find the companies that supply it. Bonus if only a handful of players dominate that niche.

Example: MSFT, AMZN and META all flagged memory chips as their bottleneck months before AI memory stocks had a generational rally.

2) CEOs buying their own stock with their own cash, not shares handed to them as pay.

Example: Uber’s CEO and COO just bought a combined $15M of Uber stock. The CEO’s $10M buy was his first open-market purchase since 2022, and he made it with the stock near its lows for the year. Uber is down this year. So why are the two people who see the numbers first buying the dip now?

3) Hedge funds and politicians like Trump buying into a name they’ve never owned before. One buyer is noise. When unrelated people start crowding into the same industry, ask what they’re all seeing.

Example: Stanley Druckenmiller bought Nvidia in Q4 2022, a stock he’d never owned and by his own admission didn’t know how to spell. That was one month before ChatGPT launched. The entry was around $15 a share split-adjusted.

4) Stocks trending on social, but read the comments, not the posts. Retail is now around a fifth of US trading volume, so the crowd genuinely moves price.

Example: GameStop 2021. Hedge funds had shorted more shares than actually existed. Retail investors on Reddit spotted it, bought together, and forced the shorts to buy back at any price. The stock went up over 1,000% in under a month. The signal wasn’t in a filing. It was in a comment section.

5) Be efficient. Instead of piling through filings and transcripts yourself, Barebone already has all of it cleaned, filtered and summarised in one place.

Comment “Guide” and we’ll send you step-by-step instructions on how to use Barebone to find potential 10x ideas.
